In 1996, These Were The Hot 5th Wheel Campers, RVs and Motor Coaches

I’ve been fascinated by those luxury RVs, Motorhomes and Motor Coaches we see rolling down the highway for decades. So, when the Executive Producer of NBC’s Weekend Today Show gave me the green light to do a segment about the latest in 5th wheel trailers, RV’s and Motor Coaches in 1996, I jumped at the opportunity.

I’ll add that nearly 20 years later, I’ve seen a number of segments and stories about Glamping and all I can say is that I was covering “galloping” before it was trendy! Yeah, a bit ahead of my time.

Here’s the models showcased in this vintage Gadget Guru Today Show segment:

– Jayco Pop Up Tent Trailer that includes room to sleep four, heat and air conditioning and galley features.

– Aliner Pop Up Trailer with a solid roof that includes an audio system, TV, running water, stove, air conditioning, heat and a hot tub.

– Winnebago Rialto that sleeps three, includes dinette, stove, running water and more.

– Country Coach Motorcoach which is a first class home on wheels. This is one of the first manufacturers to include slide mechanism cocktail/coffee table, full refrigerator, microwave oven, stand up shower, rest room, washer/dryer a king size bed and more.

In 1997, Andy Pargh, The Gadget Guru was honored by the RVIA and named Journalist of the Year for his TV and newspaper coverage of the recreational vehicle industry.
